Rumours: Liverpool set to sign Real Madrid star
The Reds are ready to break British Transfer Record to sign this Spaniard from Real Madrid.
Liverpool are planning to table an offer for Real Madrid youngster, Marco Asensio, who is touted to become the next big thing in World Football. Reports in The Mirror suggest Liverpool are even ready to break the British Transfer Record to sign Asensio, for a staggering £158m.
Asensio, whenever got the chance, capitalized and displayed tremendous performance for Real Madrid and even scored crucial goals for the Los Blancos. But the Spaniard lacked playing time and spent the majority of his time at Real Madrid’s substitute bench.
Liverpool are considering to buy Asensio to replace Philippe Coutinho, who joined FC Barcelona in the January Transfer Window for a massive £146m. Asensio is a versatile player and can ply his trade on a multitude of positions. Hence, he ticks every box Liverpool needs.
However, Asensio has a €700m buyout clause in his Real Madrid contract, but it is unlikely to affect Liverpool’s plan to lure him. Real Madrid are planning to sign Neymar Jr. from PSG and they need to raise funds to fulfil what they have been waiting for over the years.
At this situation, Real Madrid may opt to sell Asensio and add that cash to the fund Real Madrid need to sign Neymar Jr. The 22-year-old attacker has managed to impress on all those positions he had played. If Real Madrid decide to sell him, he will be a great addition to the Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
