BPFL: Fleet footers, Maryland United start off their season 3 campaign with wins

Defending Champions Fleet Footers were off to a winning start as they defeated Gorai FC in a close encounter while in the other game of the day, Maryland United came from a goal behind to win 3-1.

The day began with the inauguration ceremony where chief Guests Henry Picardo, former Mumbai FC manager along with Victor Lobo – Owner of Jovial Group of companies also known for his work on social causes like the welfare of Old age homes, Alcohol Detox and rehab center, released balloons in the air.

This was followed by a tree plantation endeavor by both the guests keeping in line with the Borivali Sports Foundation’s aim of preserving the Mother Nature. With kids involved in plantation works, the movement made sure inspire the younger generation to work towards the better caring of the nature.

 

Game 1: Fleet Footers FC 1 (Tushar poojary 11’) – 0 Gorai FC

In the opening game of season 3 of Borivali Premier League, Defending champions Fleet Footers were off to a winning start. Tushar Poojary’s 11th minute strike turned out to be the difference as the Fleet Footers beat Gorai FC by a solitary goal margin.

Game 2: Maryland United 3 (Christopher Fernandes 41’, Collin Abranches 60’ 71’) – 1 Friends FC (Benjamin Zolar 10’)

In the second fixture of the day, an inspired Maryland United came from a goal down to convincingly beat Friends FC 3-1. Benjamin Zolar’s 10th minute strike had put Friends FC into the lead but Christopher Fernandes pulled things back into level terms with his 41st minute strike. However things turned completely towards Maryland United when former Bengaluru FC midfielder Collin Abranches twice found the net in the space of 11 minutes to finish the game in his sides favor.

It’s no wonder that a successful league needs sponsors and Borivali Sports Foundation have plenty to be thankful too. Corlins Gardens – Goa, Pristine Villa – Lonavala and Vohra Skyline have also played a major role in supporting the Borivali Sports Foundation initiative.
