Ronaldo given prison sentence and fine over tax defrauding

However, it is unlikely that Ronaldo will spend two years in prison
The Iberian Derby, Portugal vs Spain is just hours away from its kick-off, but Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo have already got a massive blow. Spanish Tax Authority has found Cristiano Ronaldo guilty over tax defrauding. The Portuguese star initially rejected the claims, but reports suggest he has accepted the punishment.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a two-year prison sentence and a fine of 18.8 million Euros. However, reports across Europe suggest that Cristiano Ronaldo will not spend any time in the prison.
Earlier, Lionel Messi was also involved in a tax defrauding case. The Argentina skipper was also found guilty and had to pay fine. However, Messi, too, did not spend his time in prison, as the prison sentence duration was less than 2 years.
This comes as a huge blow for Cristiano Ronaldo, and will likely disturb his mind when Portugal take on Spain in the second game of Group B. On the other side, Spain will be keen to prove the world they have a cohesive unit and sacking Lopetegui wouldn’t disturb their play.
Cristiano Ronaldo is heavily linked with moves to Manchester United and Paris Sent Germain. It seems like Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid, where he has built an empire, an everlasting legacy, this summer. The shocking resignation of Zidane, and now, this verdict, has all added to its cause.
