Aditya Dalvi’s last-gasp goal seals a win for PIFA Colaba

8th April 2018, Mumbai: In an important MDFA Elite Division fixture, Aditya Dalvi scored a 93rd-minute winner against an already survived Mumbai Strikers’ side to clinch a 2-1 victory to keep their hopes of survival in running.
Prior to the match, PIFA had six points from 9 games. Meanwhile, Mumbai Strikers cemented their place in the top flight for another season already after clinching huge wins in the last couple of months.
It was a cagey affair earlier today at the Cooperage Stadium though. Both the sides took their time to settle into the game. Mumbai Strikers played majorly in their own half which made PIFA pounce in numerous situations.
Amusingly, both PIFA and Strikers were having an off day in front of the goal. PIFA started to take long shots which went on to reap benefits. Just before the half-time, Mikhil Tandel’s 25-yard effort blazed past everyone and picked the top-left corner. At the break, PIFA were 1-0 up.
Second-half was much more happening than the first. The Strikers raised their level and launched attack after attack, but their poor finishing was letting them down.
Their hard work and the high pressure finally paid off in the dying stage of the game. Mumbai Strikers were awarded a penalty for a handball. Arsalan stepped up and converted from the spot, making it 1-1.
But just when everyone thought that the game is heading towards a draw, PIFA’s Kamran Ansari picked out Aditya Dalvi across the goal who calmly buried his effort in the back of the net to seal an important win in the 93rd minute of the match.
