Maharashtra to go for kill against Kerala today courtesy Aaron D’Costa comeback

25th March ’18, Kolkata : Western giants Maharashtra will face an uphill task when they face off in form Kerala in a must win affair to keep their semis hope alive, today, afternoon at Howrah Stadium.
Heart of the fact
Maharashtra had a shocking campaign opener at the the same place where they got thrashed by the the defending champion and the hosts West Bengal, even after leading by a goal till half time. But the young Maharashtra side showed a lot of character in the next game, to get back to winning way with a slender victory over Chandigarh. Their opponents Kerala looks formidable after plundering 11 goals in 2 matches against Chandigarh and Manipur while conceding only once. Kerala now needs to win against Maharashtra to seal the semis spot virtually while if the fearless Maharashtran squad manage to halt the southerners then it will throw this “Group of death” wide open since in that case Bengal, Maharashtra and Kerala will have 2 wins each. Much will depend upon Bengal-Chandigarh match which will be taking place at the same time in Mohun Bagan Ground.
Exclusive news from Maharashtran squad.
The prolific star striker of Maharashtra Aaron D’Costa is reportedly set to make his comeback today, after a leg injury, which compelled him to sit out in the previous matches. It will be a much needed boost for the westerners as Aron himself said in an interview to FootballCounter “I’m ready for the next matches and we won’t be settling for anything less than victory in all the other matches”. The prolific striker sounded confident “We might opt for the most attacking formation 3-5-2 and will try to score twice in the opening half so that it becomes easier from there on”
Their captain Dion Menezes also sounded confident after he found the back of the net in their previous match “ We are confident about our next matches and hopefully D’Costa will be back as his experience and fireworks are needed and we hope Ranjit also strikes form sooner than later.” Concern was voiced in their coach as he stated “ It’s difficult to adjust to the change of conditions as we had limited time & practice options and practising in the mud fields before these important clashes, sometimes hurts too much. But I’m confident of my boys and they will surely turn it around.”
Maharashtra will go for kill as anything less than a victory might just see their hopes to qualify for semis ,turn to ashes; while Kerala also won’t leave it easy for the westerners as “Group of death” reaches its climax!
