MDFA Super Division: BOI go down to Central Railway in 5 goal thriller

A late resurgence from Bank of India was not enough as Central Railway snatched all 3 points in an entertaining game that saw a nail-biting finish

In a highly physical game that saw cards flowing out from referees hand every now and then with as many as 8 players getting booked, Central Railway held off a late Bank of India challenge to take all three points registering their fifth consecutive win of the Super Division Campaign.

Both sides started off their Super division campaign with comprehensive wins, while Central Railway (CR) came in to the game on the back of four consecutive wins, Bank of India were held to a 1-1 draw against ESIC after two wins in the preceding games. With CR already holding the top spot, BOI needed to take all three points to mount a challenge for the top of the table position.

However things did not their way as they conceded the opening goal of the game around the half hour mark as Manoj Jadav found the net to make it 1-0 for Central Railways. Five minutes later Shabai Padan doubled the lead as BOI began losing the grip of the match. Both teams headed in to the tunnel with Central Railways leading the game 2-0. Second half started with Bank of India looking to charge down the ball but every good move was easily dealt with ny Central Railways with players not afraid to concede fouls just to break the moment. Around the 67th minute, Zuber Desai found the net to make it 3-0 for Central Railway, as the game looked to head into a one sided win for the Central Railway.

However there was a late twist as Dale D’chuna struck an 80th minute goal to make it 3-1. The goal inspired BOI to push forward and around the 90th minute, another goal from Rakesh Mahto made it 2-3 for BOI. In search of a late equaliser, BOI put men forward to make it a nervy final few minutes. By full time whistle, Railways defence held the slender one goal advantage to take all three points and extend the winning run to 5 games.

Bank Of India 2 (Dale D’chuna 80’, Rakesh Mahto 90’) – 3 Central Railway (Manoj jadhav 33’, Shabai Padan 38’, Zuber Desai 67’)
