Bilal and Rishi’s goal gives CBI their first win of the season

26th February 2018, Mumbai: Central Bank of India (CBI) registered their first win of the season on Monday evening after a hard-fought 2-0 win over KSA (Karnataka Sports Association) in MDFA Elite Division encounter at Cooperage Stadium. This was CBI’s first win in seven attempts in Elite Division.

KSA was left to rue missed opportunities as they badly struggled in front of the goal yesterday. Had they converted the chances, the game would have been decided in the first-half itself. KSA made a bright start. Striker Tushar Poojary missed a sitter midway into the first-half when placed his loose effort wide after a beautiful build-up down the middle.

Meanwhile, on the other end, CBI was totally outrun in the midfield as they rarely created a genuine chance in the first-half. Striker Rishikesh Shinde was isolated up front due to poor servicing from CBI’s midfield. Somehow CBI went into the break unscathed as the score was still locked at 0-0.

CBI improved in the second-half and started to push forward. Substitute Bilal Mohd. made a huge impact after being introduced in the second-half. In the 74th minute, Bilal’s bullet header from the corner broke the deadlock as KSA’s goalkeeper Rajesh Bangera was only able to get a fingertip on the glancing header.

Striker Rishikesh wrapped up the game in the injury time after cutting past KSA’s goalkeeper and a defender to calmly placed his shot in the back of the net. That was it for CBI as they cruised to their first win of the season. KSA suffered their third loss of the campaign and they are currently lying in the midtable while CBI leapfrogged Mumbai Strikers in the 10th position.
