Inter-District Football Championship (Junior Boys) – Palghar: Round-up

Earlier today, Maharashtra Inter-District Football Championship for Junior Boys went underway at Palghar which is organized by WIFA – Western India Football Association. A memorable day which saw the likes of Gondia, Jalna, Amravati, and Ahmednagar notching up wins to qualify for the next round. The second day is set to resume tomorrow at Palghar.

Gondia 0-0 Sangali DFA (Gondia won 5-4 via penalties)

The first match was played between Gondia and Sangali. In what was an evenly contested match, Gondia District edged past Sangali DFA 5-4 in the tie-breaker after a 0-0 stalemate in normal time. It was Gondia’s goalkeeper Paramjit who saved the 5th penalty to take his team into the next round.

Jalna (Aniket Galdhar 59′) 1-0 Akola

Jalna defeated a resilient Akola side 1-0, courtesy of Aniket Galdhar’s 59th minute sublime strike. Akola played the whole game with only 7 players as they failed to provide an appropriate certificate for the player registration. Nevertheless, Akola played a fantastic match with the seven available players. A full squad at the helm would have given another story for sure.

Amravati (Yash Pavde 20′ and Niraj Jadhav 28′) 2-0 Hingoli

A dominant display by Amravati as they defeated Hingoli 2-0. Yash Pavde opened the scoring in the 20th minute which was followed by Niraj Jadhav’s strike in the 28th minute.

Ahmednagar (Shivanand Puri 2, Aditya Bagade, Roshan Rikami, and Ankit Singh) 5-1 Nanded (Maaz Khan)

Shivanand Puri had a tremendous match as he scored twice while Aditya Bagade, Roshan Rikami, and Ankit Singh also bagged a goal each to complete a memorable 5-1 win over Nanded. Meanwhile, for Nanded, Maaz Khan scored the lone goal.
