Coin Toss decides Kolhapur District League winner

After both sides ended on same points with same goal differences, a coin toss became the deciding factor in what could be termed as an anti-climatic end to an epic title chase.

In a highly entertaining Kolhapur District A League season, it was the final league game between Patakadil Talim Mandal (PTM) and Practice Football Club that produced a winner. After both sides secured 14 points until their penultimate game it was the final League that became the deciding factor for the title. Both sides equal on points and Goal differences needed a win to lift the title as a draw would lead to a coin toss becoming a settling factor.
The highly anticipated game brought around 16000 locals to the stadium such was the atmosphere that one could have mistaken the crowd outside the stadium for some festival gathering. Much to the delight of the fans, both the teams went for an all out attack in search of a win but goals eluded either sides as it was the day of two Goal keepers .Practice FC custodian Rajeev Miryal and Vishal Narayanpure of PTM produced numerous exceptional saves to deny their opponents a goal. As the full time whistle closed the game, the score line read 0 – 0 with the winner yet not decided. With the tournament being a league based, Penalty shoot-out was not to be an option and it ultimately boiled down to a coin toss.
AIFF General Secretary – Kusal Das, who came alongside WIFA CEO Henry Menezes and Vice-President Maloji Raje Chhatrapati to witness the game, tossed the eventual coin which was rightly called out by Patakadi skipper. As Patakadil Talim Mandal lifted the trophy for the fourth consecutive time, Practice FC finished up on runners-up position in an unfortunate circumstance. The result by toss eventually resulted in to some altercations among the fans of either sides but vigilant police stationed outside the stadium were quick to control the situation.
