MDFA 2nd division: JMJ SC, Veera United top respective groups with big wins

Both Veera United and JMJ SC picked up wins on big margins to secure respective group top spots, courtesy of better goal difference while Maurya Youngstars sneaked to a 1-0 win secure 2nd spot in group D.

In the first game of the day for 2nd division, Veera United blasted home a 6-1 win over a hapless GKW Rangers in a group H fixture. Sameer Niyazi opened the scoring in the 8th minute with his first of the three goals before Pranit Patel doubled the lead in the 19th minute. Saumitra Parkar slotted the third to make it 3-0 before both sides entered the break. In the second half, Veera United scored three more goals as Sameer completed his hat-trick and Praneet rounded up his brace. For GKW rangers, Sheldon Menezes scored the consolation goal in the 65th minute. The win propels Veera United to the top of the group H table with the five goal win margin giving a hand in toppling Charkop FC on goal difference.

A close game between two top of the table teams ended in Maurya Young Stars FA sneaking a one goal win against Joshua Generation keeping the second spot in the group table secure. Keegan Fernandes late winner helped his side close down group D leaders KNFC with just one point separating them while extending the gap between their immediate next Joshua Generation, who are at 3rd spot, to five points.

Game 2: Maurya Youngstars FA 1 (Keegan Fernandes 66’) – 0 Joshua Generations FC

In the group F fixture, JMJ Sports Club secured another big win with a 6-nil annihilation of MMC to recapture their pole position. Reuben Fernandes struck a hat-trick while Elvin Fernandes, Daniel Fernandes and Melvin Barboza chipped in with one each. The win takes them to the top spot with 15 points on par with second placed Mother Teresa FC but better on goal difference, which is at a whopping 28 goals in just six games.
