ISL 2017: 5 Talking points from Week 5

Indian Super League had undergone another scintillating week. Started the action with Bengaluru FC trouncing Pune City, it ended with the same Bengaluru tasting the bitterness of the defeat in the Southern Derby.
Let’s take a look at the talking points of the week.
Armoured Pune City trounced by Bengaluru FC.
Bengaluru FC vs Pune City FC was a game worth watching. Despite Pune scoring the first goal, it was Bengaluru FC, who sealed the deal. Baljith was shown the red card, twirling the entire drama. Taking the advantage of 1 man, Alberto Roca’s Bengaluru launched lethal attacks, and the result, in-turn was the brace for Miku, and a goal from their Captain Fantastic Sunil Chhetri.
Wes Brown return boosts Kerala Blasters camp.
Kerala Blasters vs Northeast United FC was the battle between two floundering sides. It was a must win game fot both the sides. The game grew with sides showing the attacking intents, however, it was Kerala Blasters who opened the card on the night, courtesy to CK Vineeth’s fantastic header.
But it was Wes Brown’s return that indeed shaped the Kerala camp. They showed more co-operation, they built the play better than ever, with Brown both providing his service to thwart the incomings, and to build the outgoings. His experience totally revamped the side, and has brought the much required boost.
Fierce approach of FC Goa continue.
The one thing Sergio Lobero might have assured his fans is goals. FC Goa’s attack is remorseless. Their attacker ran past everything. They scored four against Bengaluru FC, five against Kerala Blasters, and this time it was Delhi Dynams who acted as the prey.
FC Goa scored 5 against them, of which, three came within the gap of 5 or 6 minutes, which indeed help us analyze how they’re exploiting the spaces. Coro and Co sounded brilliantly against Delhi Dynamos, absolutely exploiting the inexperience of Sukhdev Patil
Defending Champions, ATK back in the battle.
ATK’s roster is one of the best in the league, but the defending champions of this cash-rich league had bad time, floundering to keep the momentum. But ATK has shown the symptoms of the return, defeating Mumbai City FC. The arrival of Ryan Taylor, replacement of the injured Carl Baker provided the team a new outlook. However, Mumbai also played well, launching the attacks, and the scorecard would’ve read more than one, had Amrinder and Debjit not performed well.
Guimares also provided Pranjal Bhumij an opportunity to showcase his talent in the this tournament, and the younger utilized the opportunity well. Guimares lauded the efforts of DSK Shivajians academy product in the pre-match conference against NorthEast United, and is confident to see him in the national jersey.
Chennaiyin edge past Bengaluru FC in the first Southern Derby.
Bengaluru FC started the action of this week with smile in their cheeks, as they outran Pune City FC in the first, however, their destiny was to end the game losing to Chennaiyin FC. Chennaiyin took the early lead, and since then Bengaluru dominated the game, while Chennaiyin had to resort counter-attacks to restore the momentum.
Keeping the fierceness of the South Indian derby, both sides made argy-bargies throughout the game, and the player would’ve sent-off, had not the referee controlled.
