German football freestylers put on dazzling show in Goa
With football fever gripping India thanks to the Hero Indian Super League, the cultural wing of the German Embassy in New Delhi brought two German football freestylers – Maximilian Meyer and Daniel Korte – to India to demonstrate their amazing skills. Freestyle football is not just a sport, but a medium of self-expression with the use of a football. The sport has taken flight and is practiced by people from all over the world. Max and Daniel dazzled crowds in Goa with their incredible skill and elegance on the ball.
Goa is one of the major football hubs in the country and it is evidenced by the fact that almost every one of FC Goa’s home games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda with a capacity of 19,000 seats is sold out. With the generous support of the German Embassy, Max and Daniel flew to Goa for two days.

The first performance was at a children’s festival, organized as a part of the grassroots programme by the Club’s Forca Goa Foundation. The freestylers put on a great performance for the kids who were fascinated by their skills, even showing some of the young Gaurs techniques on how to perform moves like rainbow flicks, around the world, drags, roulettes etc. The day was extended with a spontaneous freestyle session at Goa’s wonderful Ashwem beach.
The highlight was the interaction with the FC Goa’s first team: Max and Daniel challenged seven key players, including Ahmed Jahouh, Yasir Mohammad, Naveen Kumar, Amey Ranawade, Manvir Singh, Narayan Das and Sergio Juste, extending various contests to the players in an entertaining session. The duo competed against the Gaurs in a penalty challenge, a free kick challenge, a one touch challenge and various other skill challenges. Additionally, Max and Daniel visited a few locations in Goa such as Fontainhas in Panjim’s old town where they performed a host of skill moves that left on lookers awed.
Before their captivating performance in Goa, the duo enthralled the school students and onlookers at various public places in Delhi. FC Goa and the Forca Goa Foundation is grateful for the Indo-German cooperation, and thanks the German Embassy New Delhi for its amazing support.
