Elite Division: CBI to play Century Rayon later today

29th November 2017, Mumbai: Central Bank of India (CBI)’s MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association Elite Division campaign is set to resume later today when they will meet newly-promoted side Century Rayon at Cooperage Stadium.

This will be Central Bank of India’s second match of this season after suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of defending champions Air India on 16th October at Cooperage. The Bankers had performed brilliantly against the mighty ‘Air Indians’ who had to come back from 1-0 down to win the match 2-1.

Kuldeep Maschi had given CBI a solitary lead after converting a first-half penalty. But it was Santosh Koli and Prati Koli’s goal which broke CBI’s heart as they suffered a narrow loss in their first game of the season. Their season can get back on track later today when they will meet a tricky Century Rayon side. Andrew Burthelo and Kuldeep Maschi are the players to watch out for CBI.

Century Rayon is heading towards the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against PIFA on 15th November. Today will be Rayon’s fourth match of the Elite Division campaign. They have currently won one, drawn one and lost one.

In their first match, they gave a tough fight to Mumbai Customs but went down fighting 3-2. Rayon finally got the taste of victory when they brushed past Mumbai Strikers 2-0, courtesy of  Warschei Kaschung and Ligin’s late strike. Besides Warschei Kaschung, Thatcham Vashum, Winner and Sunil Mane are some of Rayon’s key players.

Now that Rayon has already played three games, one can definitely say that the newly-promoted side has settled in the Elite Division. A victory against Central Bank of India will give them a huge boost ahead of a long season.
