GK Akash Vharamble’s brilliance helps MS Police to earn a draw against PIFA

27th November 2017, Mumbai: The top-most division of Mumbai Football – MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Elite Division resumed earlier today when PIFA Sports locked horns against a struggling MS Police side at Cooperage.

Coming to the game, MS Police had suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Union Bank of India (UBI), whereas, PIFA had to settle for a draw in their previous game. Though MS Police suffered a huge defeat earlier, they turned out to improve their form and made PIFA struggle for the majority of the game.

In an eventful encounter, a brilliance from Goalkeeper Akash Vharamble helped MS Police to snatch an unlikely 1-1 draw against PIFA who were pretty wasteful in front of goal.

MS Police got underway on a positive note. Their high pressing forced PIFA to commit errors in the attacking third. Sagar Bhosle made sure to capitalize when he struck on a rebound from his own attempt to open the scoring in the 17th minute.

The initial attempt was spectacularly denied by PIFA’s custodian Sagar with a one-hand save but the follow-up proved too good to deny. Later in the first-half, Sagar Bhosle got a couple of more chance to increase MS Police lead but he couldn’t manage to keep his cool.

PIFA step up their game in the second-half as they kept on threatening MS Police’s backline to find the equalizer. The pressure paid off when PIFA was awarded a penalty in the 57th minute. Afzar Noorani kept his cool and placed his effort in the bottom corner to level the score.

After conceding, MS Police sat back and soaked PIFA’s pressure which gave them numerous opportunities to find another goal. That’s when Goalkeeper Akash Vharamble stood up. His double one-handed save to deny Venky and later Kamran Ansari & Aditya Dalvi earned his side a crucial point against an energetic PIFA side.
