MDFA: 3rd Division Round-up of 05-04-2017 at MSSA Ground
Mumbai: Veer Engineering wins big while IIT Powai come out victors against Chembur YMCA as Shastri Nagar ‘B’ share a point with Chedda Nagar ‘B’ in the 3rd Division of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) matches held at the MSSA ground on 5th April 2017.
3rd Division
Veer Engineering 6-1 Mumbai United U19
Mumbai United U19 were blown away by the Veer Engineering duo Amey Kambli & Kris Parekh as both of them scored hat-tricks. Amey Kambli scored two quick-fire goals in the 11th & 13th minute and then Kris Parekh scored two beautiful goals in the 19th & 25th minute. Mumbai United got one back through Ricky Karkera in the 32nd minute but were soon pegged back as Amey & Kris completed their hat-tricks making it 6-1.
Chembur YMCA 1-2 IIT Powai
IIT Powai took the lead in the 2nd minute itself as Chembur were caught sleeping at the back. IIT Powai then doubled their lead on the 20th-minute mark through Moebe Mekonen. Chembur YMCA halved the deficit in the 40th minute but could not complete their comeback as Powai’s defence was resolute enough to see them win 2-1.
Shastri Nagar ‘B’ 1-1 Chedda Nagar ‘B’
Shastri Nagar were on top in the initial exchanges as they created chance after chance and one finally paid off as they took the lead on the 18th-minute mark through Shahenshah Khan. But Chedda Nagar hit back just before the halftime mark making 1-1 at the break. Both teams struggled to get going in the second half as the heat took its toll on the players and the game ended 1-1.
