St Joseph thump Vidya Vikasni Teresians, Mumbai FC U17 edge Young Guns

Mumbai: St Joseph strolled past Vidya Vikasni Teresians as they won 4-1 in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), First Division, Group E match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Sunday afternoon, 2nd April 2017.

This Group E match proved a bit one sided at St Joseph bossed the game, particularly the first half to get all three points. Vinay Kharvi opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the match to put St Joseph ahead. Yogesh Kangude doubled their lead in the 32nd minute. While it was Reynold Murzello who scored the third in the 35th minute.

The second half did not produce many goals. But Rushan’s goal in the 49th minute proved to be a lifeline for Vidya Vikasni as he made it 1-3. But Reynold rounded off the scoring, getting his brace in the 77th minute. That was three points in the bag for St Joseph

This intense Group E match was a nail bitter for the spectators. Sanath Valladares opened the scoring in the 2nd minute to give Mumbai FC U17 the lead. The match remained neck to neck at the break.

In the second half, the Young Guns came out firing on all cylinders looking for the equaliser and got it early. In the 50th minute, Aditya Menon equalised to put Young Guns from Bandra right back in the match. But it was Melroy Assisi in the 67th minute that got the winner for the Mumbai FC U17. A crucial goal in the match that got the Mumbai side all three points
