Mumbai: Mumbai Strikers beat Mumbai Muslim by 2-0 in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Super Division, Group A match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Saturday evening, 1st April 2017.

The most anticipated match of the day yesterday was this game. It was a derby in Group B many had their eyes on. 90 minutes of end to end football under the floodlights. This match missed the early goal scoring moment an extra spice missing.

As the game progressed it gained the momentum and there was space for both teams to pass around building up to some beautiful moves in the park. It was clear from both teams intention that they were playing their hearts out for three crucial points. The first goal scoring moment of the match felt to Mumbai Muslim side when Somesh Thakur shot from 30 yards to hit the crossbar. The first eye-catching moment of the match.

Mumbai Strikers certainly missed their prolific striker Ravish D’Souza as he got injured in the match against Century Rayon.

The breakthrough arrived in the 36th minute when Number 8 Somesh Thakur’s through ball penetrated the Strikers defense and was finished calmly by Number 11. Rushikesh Koli. The Mumbai Muslim took a one-goal advantage inside.

Mumbai Striker started on a bright note in the second half looking for the equaliser. They almost equalised in the 60th minute when a fine cross from Omkar Sawant was well connected by Madhusudan but it hit the pole. That was very close. But their relentless pressure got them the reward in the form of an equaliser when Arsalan Hamdulay of the Strikers headed home a pin-point cross from Akshay Devadiga. 70 minutes played the score being 1-1.

The Strikers dominated the game after the equaliser never looking back on anything. They got their winner in the 85th minute. Arsalan Hamdulay netting again this time the assist coming from Reuel Kunder.

90 minutes of intense football action ended 2-1 in favour of the Mumbai Strikers. A treat to watch for all the spectators in the stands. Another breathtaking the game of football came to an end.
