Yadnesh More’s injury time goal rounds up a thrilling 2-2 draw against Kenkre FC U19

Mumbai: Bank Of India held Kenkre FC to a 2-2 draw in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Super Division, Group A match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Saturday evening, 1st April 2017.

The first game under the floodlights produced some good brand of football from both the teams who looked fired up for all three points. The game had a good pace for the entire 90 minutes. With both squads having young and talented players, the crowd was treated to an edge of the seat game. A draw that had some brilliant football involved and in the end fair to say that they shared the point.

Bank of India got the lead through Rupesh Meher who made no mistake netting the first goal of the game. It was a reward for an excellent start to the first half. The Kenkre FC U19 side did well to stay in the match and not concede further. Bank Of India were exceptional throughout the first half.

The second half was dominated by Kenkre FC U19 who came out all guns blazing looking for the equalizer. Bank Of India did well to hold them. But the equalizer came in the 51st minute through Mane D’Souza who was flawless in his finish. To add to their misery Kenkre FC U19 doubled their lead in the 55th minute through Yash Angre. Bank of India lacked some experience in the middle as they were playing without their charismatic player, Shankar Thakur. Just when Kenkre FC U19 though they had all three points in the bag, Yadnesh More’s injury time goal broke their hearts. The final move of the game saw an exceptional through ball from Mitlesh Patil that carved open the Kenkre defense and Yadnesh More was through on goal one on one with the keeper making no mistake. He did well to stay calm under pressure and finish off a breathtaking move.

For Kenkre FC U19, it’s two points lost considering the way they came back from a goal down to lead the game all the way through till the injury time when they cracked. For Bank Of India, it is a valuable point but the story would be different had they taken their chances.

It’s finished at Parel after a roller coaster 90 minutes, Kenkre FC 2-2 Bank Of India
