Income Tax stroll past Fr.Agnel in a 3-1 win

St Xavier’s, Mumbai: Income Tax overcame Father Agnel by 3-1 in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Super Division match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017.

The final game of the day under the floodlights did not disappoint as the four-goal affair went in favour of a disciplined performance from the Income Tax team.

Both the sides came out with nothing but three points in their sight. Some initial action a few good moves around the box. But the lack of sharpness in the final third proved to be a problem. Nonetheless, it was Income Tax who took the lead in the 21st minute. Nilesh Kolgaonkar, the player to put them in front. The just lasted for 10 minutes and Fr.Agnel immediately equalised in the 31st minute. The equaliser coming from Abhishek Pansare. The half ended on even terms with both teams at 1-1.

The second half promised fire-crackers and it did not fail to disappoint. Although the initial minutes of the half were played in a cautious way from both sides. Mid-way through the second half it looked as if both teams were settling for one point each. But the drama happened late in the game when Vinit Negi put the Income Tax side in front in the 78th minute. With the last 10 minutes, Fr.Agnel went ahead in search of the equaliser and were left exposed at the back. To which the Income Tax side exploited to the fullest. Madan Taklikar netted Income Tax’s third and a decisive winning goal to put three points in the bag.

A game that promised a lot of drama and fireworks did not fail to deliver. The final scoreline being, Income Tax 3-1 Fr.Agnel.
