Inter-District Sub-Juniors Girls: Mummbai DFA thrash Thane by a 5-1 margin

Mumbai, February 14: Powered by the twin strikes from Kyra Aggarwal and Sai Sankhe, Mumbai District FA went on to record an authoritative 5-1 win against Thane District FA in a first round match of the Maharashtra State Inter-District Sub-juniors Girls football championship 2016-17 and played at the Pharmacy College ground, Dhule on Tuesday. Anagha Janakkiraman got the other goal for Mumbai while Thane pulled one back through Ankita Rawat.

In the first match of the tournament, Solapur scored better than Ahmednagar in the tie-breaker and earned the quarter-final berth. The match ended 1-1 in the regular time.

In other matches, Kolhapur District FA scored once in each through  Ramyashree and Jyoti Morabale to overcome Satara District FA and advance to the next round.

Meanwhile, Sakshi Shingane’s lone strike inspired Buldhana District FA to a close 1-0 win against Yavatmal DFA.

At the end,  Nashik DFA scored thee goals to clinch the convincing 3-0 victory over Dhule DFA. It was started early in the 6th-minute goal by Sharvari with her composed finish. Later in the second-half penalty awarded to Nashik, Anushka did no mistaking in doubling the lead. Later Sharvari completed her brace in the 46th minute of the game and secured a quarter-final berth for her team.
