Kenkre FC all but out after an 1-10 loss to DSK Shivajians

DSK Shivajians

December 5, 2016, Cooperage Stadium: On Matchday 6, Kenkre Football Club welcomed DSK Shivajians for an all-important game in the AIFF Under-18 Youth League. The home team contained DSK Shivajians for the first-half to just one goal, but as tired looking players entered the field for the second-half, the visitors ran ramped, scoring an astonishing nine goals.

Pranjal Bhumij, Lalawmpuia and substitute Omkar More scored hat-tricks as Marchstarfield Marbawiang added to the flurry of goals as well; Kenkre F.C.’s consolation strike came from substitute Prathamesh Kadam.

A defeat for Kenkre on Monday evening meant the side is no longer in contention for a qualifying spot for the next round of the Youth League. Facing their third defeat in four matches, Kenkre sits with just three points in the fourth spot. While DSK, who managed to have a 100% record in the two matches played so far is now leading the table with a superior goal difference compared to Pune City.

The first half of match was a much more balanced encounter as DSK and Kenkre battled to gain an upper hand in the match. DSK were superior in terms of the chances they could fathom, courtesy of which they took a 17th-minute lead from Pranjal Bhumij. Overall, the first half did not produce any noteworthy moments but shaped the match going into the second half.

Kenkre looked a much tired coming into the second-45, and despite keeping DSK at bay for most parts of the half, the home side stumbled and never really recovered from letting the second goal in around the 51 minutes mark. Second-half substitute Omkar More ran a one-man show for 10 minutes as he manoeuvres past the Kenkre defence thrice in 10 minutes to complete his hat-trick (51’, 55’ and 59’).

On the hour mark, Marchstarfield Marbawiang struck another goal. A second strike from Pranjal Bhumij followed in the 62nd minute of the match. And in the closing 20 minutes of the match, five goals were scored as the proceedings concluded with a resounding 10-1 win for the visitors DSK.

Also, read Kenkre’s only victorious match in this U-18 i-League so far with PIFA.

Lalawmpuia’s hattrick turned a gap into a chasm, during the time Prathamesh Kadam got his and Kenkre’s only goal. Bhumij also scored a third to complete his hat-trick in the 78th minute.

As Kenkre’s campaign is coming down to another poor end, DSK looks stronger with every match, having won their previous match 6-0 at home, a 10-1 away win just improves their credibility as an opposition home and away.
