DSK win 4-1 against Mumbai Rush Soccer, proving dominance in group ‘B’
Under-16 Youth League, 24th November 2016: DSK Shivajians came out strongly in the second-half of their encounter against MUM – Steadfast FC – Mumbai Rush Soccer to triumph 4-1, scoring thrice in the second 45-minutes via Sudipta Malakar, and two second-half substitutes Laldawngkima and Umair Saiyyad. During the first half-hour, with the score-line at 0-0, DSK Shivajians’ Captain F. Malsawmtluanga put his side in-front on 30 minutes. In the buildup to the closing stages of the first-half of play, Mumbai Rush Soccer got themselves back through Captain Jonathan D’Souza seven minutes later.
After a first-half, which showed neither side coming-out on top, DSK’s change in approach brought a profound impact to their full-time result. The home-side secured their fifth win in as many matches, as they extended their lead over Mumbai Football Club by six points with three matches to be played.
It wasn’t clear, where the tie was heading, as performances showed no signs of encouragement until the Malsawmtluanga’s goal, which opened the match. Mumbai Rush Soccer were aware about the misfortunes of MUM – PIFA Sports (Colaba) Football Club, who suffered the heaviest defeat to the hands of DSK (away), losing 10-0. Perhaps, Mumbai Rush Soccer’s only reply to conceding a goal was, rightly, to find their rhythm and somehow manage to level the proceedings, before stepping into another tiring, intense and complex half of football. A Jonathan D’Souza strike in the 37th minute would have seemed if Mumbai Rush Soccer were to have a real shot at getting anything out of DSK at home, what is right move?
The first-half break provided the thinking time Mumbai Rush Soccer longed, with the side coming out strongly in the second-half of play. Mumbai Rush Soccer managed to put up a strong upper-hand defensively, but cracked-open on the hour mark, as Sudipta Malakar’s gave DSK an anticipated lead in the match, for the second time. The third goal by substitute Laldawngkima put DSK firmly in control, as Mumbai Rush Soccer’s any last-chance went wide. Another substitute Umair Saiyyad, added to an already satisfying score-sheet in the 82 nd minute, as DSK proved just about too much to handle for the away side. The road for Mumbai Rush Soccer has been an uphill task throughout, and with just two matches remaining, the side can start reassessing their rather misfortunes and where exactly did it go wrong.
