Kamran & Umair nets hat-trick in a eight-goal thriller between Mumbai FC and DSK Shivajians

Kamran Ansari scoring from the spot for Mumbai FC

Mumbai FC hosted a strong DSK Shivajians side in the Under-16 Youth League (Maharashtra Zone) Group B encounter at Cooperage Stadium on Saturday evening. A spectacular performance by Kamran Ansari and Umair Saiyyad produced a fantastic nail-biter as Mumbai FC went down fighting 5-3 against DSK Shivajians in an eight-goal thriller.

DSK Shivajians started on a bright note as they kept the majority of the ball possession as the match proceeded. Their build-up right from their backline to frontline was a joy to watch which included some brilliant one-touch passing. The pressure inflicted on Mumbai FC’s midfield and backline by DSK Shivajians proved very effective when in the 12th minute of the match DSK Shivajians broke the deadlock.

A brilliant move which was started by DSK’s centre-back Clivert Demers was executed brilliantly when Laldawngkima delivered a fine ball across the goal towards Umair Saiyyad who calmly buried his effort into the back of the net.

Six minutes later Mumbai FC replied back strongly. Star player Kamran Ansari received the ball possession in the midfield who brilliantly dribbled past a couple of DSK’s defenders and with acres of space in front of him, the number 10 unleashed a powerful shot right into the bottom corner to level the score for the Yellow Submarines.

Apart from Kamran Ansari, Mumbai FC’s defensive duo Jahan Waliya and Captain Nikhil Prabhu was also brilliant for throughout the match, yesterday at Cooperage. Both the solid defenders intercepted key passes, made spectacular tackles, cleared aerial balls, and read the game with ease to keep Mumbai FC in the game.

Though in the 24th minute DSK Shivajians counter-attack proved too good for Mumbai’s backline. Sudipta Malakar’s pinpoint pass found Umair Saiyyad on the edge of the box who brilliantly found the back of the net with a sublime finish to restore the parity. After creating a goal for Umair, Sudipta made it 3-1 for DSK Shivajians in the 43rd minute to increase the lead and go into the break with a two goals advantage.

The second-half saw a brilliant fightback from Mumbai FC. Six minutes into the half, Kamran once again dribbled past from his marker and launched a thunderous shot straight into the left bottom corner to cut short Mumbai FC’s deficit to one goal. DSK’s goalkeeper H. Zawnhmingthanga was comprehensively beaten by Kamran’s venomous strike.

Mumbai FC’s impressive strategy to punish DSK on the counter had put them in the driver’s seat. In the 69th minute, their hard work finally paid off when the Yellow Submarines were awarded a penalty, a big opportunity to level the score.

Kamran stepped up to convert his penalty but saw his effort being saved by Zawnhmingthanga, only to score from the rebound to level the match at 3-3. The number 10 was in tears as he completed his hat-trick for Mumbai FC.

It seemed like a perfect ending for Mumbai FC as they fought back to tie the score but unfortunately there was a twist in the tale. Two minutes after Mumbai equalized, DSK’s Umair Saiyyad also completed his hat-trick when he gave DSK a vital 4-3 lead with a fine goal.

With 15 minutes left, DSK scored again to put the match to bed and register a memorable victory over their rivals. Krish Adhikari pounced on a loose ball which almost seemed like an own goal to score DSK’s fifth goal of the match.

After this result, DSK is sitting at the top of the Group B with nine points in three games, whereas, Mumbai FC is second with six points in four games,
