India’s U-17 world cup squad narrowly loses out to Norway U-16 side

After shooting straight 7-0 in the previous match, Reality struck the Indian U-17 World Cup Squad went down fighting 2-0 against Norway U-16 National Team in Norway on 29th June’16.

It was not so good day for the boys, first being reduced to 10 men in the 54th minute when Sanjeev was shown a second yellow card for a harsh tackle. Norway took the lead in the 57th minute and another shock came in for the Indian boys when Norway doubled their lead in the 80th minute, Erik Boitheim’s strike.

The game was largely held in the middle, the boys had fair chances of goal scoring opportunities only to be unable to convert the ball. Unavailability of men in the box left the cross by Aniket to go waste, also the goal scoring opportunity.

Also, Komal in the 25th minute had a golden opportunity to bring the Indians to take the lead provided he struck the ball home and not in keeper’s hand.

After a goalless first half, India reduced to 10 men and two goals by the Norway side. Failing to capitalise the mistakes in the first half, the full-time scoreline read 2-0 in Norway’s side. Reality check for the boys.
