Meldon D’Silva

How does it feel to be a Mumbai FC player?
I am very happy to sign for Mumbai FC. This club has some excellent players alongwith an excellent coach in Khalid Jamil. I am looking forward to playing in the I-League and the Federation Cup and want to win every game with this club.

What have been some of the biggest moments of your career?
Winning the Lusofonia Gold was a major achievement for me. The fact that I scored in the final makes it even sweeter. It is something that I will always cherish and I hope for many more moments like these in my career.

Another experience that I would like to share is of the time when I went to Manchester alongwith Salgaocar. We won the Manchester United Premier Cup there and got a chance to train with the Manchester United players.

What are your aims as a Football Player?
I am committed to work hard so that I can play for the India’s senior team as soon as possible. I want to be very successful. For now I aim to win a lot of matches and trophies with Mumbai FC. I believe we have a good squad to do that.

How did you decide to become a professional football player?
Goa has a lot of football and as a child I used to watch the Premier games. Also, I took inspiration from players like John Terry, Puyol etc. who are some of the strongest Center Backs. I have my favorites in India too. I like the way Mahesh Gawli plays. For me he is one of the top Center Backs the nation has seen.

You have taken part in a couple of pre-season training sessions already. How has it been with your new teammates?
I am gelling with them a lot. Some of the players have been here since the club started which is a very good thing. I am building a good rapport and understanding with them on and off the field. They are very good players and great individuals too.

A message for the fans….
Keep supporting and watching us. We’ll definitely pay you back with good results.
