Konnark’s Valentine Pereira leads his side to a 3-0 victory over Hirai Suns
In the second match of Colaba Sports League Day 3, Konnark F.C inspired by their Captain Valentine Pereira bounced back to outclass Hirai Suns 3-0 at Cooperage Stadium on Wednesday evening. After losing their first game 1-0 against Naaz United, Sachin Narsappa’s side showed great character and put on a brilliant display of attacking football to romp past struggling Hirai Suns who are winless in this campaign so far.
Venkatesh Srinivas opened the scoring within three minutes to put Konnark in front before Valentine Pereira made it 2-0 later in the second-half. Bhavik Tandel then made it 3-0 late in the second-half to put the game to bed.
Konnark started off brilliantly as it took them just three minutes to open the scoring. Striker Venkatesh Srinivas showed great awareness to win back the possession which was followed by a great run inside the box as he comprehensively beat Hirai Suns goalkeeper Harshad Meher to put Konnark in front.
Konnark pushed forward for the whole first-half with Valentine Pereira their catalyst. Hirai Suns defended well to prevent any further goals in the first-half.
On the 63rd minute, Konnark’s Floyd Dharmai set Valentine on goal with a precise through ball, Valentine kept his composure and went round Hirai Suns goalkeeper Harshad Meher to score Konnark’s second goal of the game. With this goal Valentine has opened his goal account for this edition of CSL.
Ten minutes later, Venkatesh Srinivas had his shot rattle the bar which eventually fell into his teammate Bhavik Tandel’s way who headed it home to increase their lead to three goals. Few minutes later, Konnark’s defender Chirag Walmiki looping ball found Charles Fernandes whose attempted chip went just wide off the right hand post.
Once again Hirai Suns star Striker Karim Shaikh was isolated upfront. None of Hirai Suns midfielder managed to feed Karim properly which was also the reason behind Hirai Suns few attempted shots.
The score remained the same for the rest of the match as Konnark registered their first victory of Colaba Sports League 2016.
Undoubtedly, Valentine Pereira was given the man of the match award for his top notch performance.
