‘Go Green’ – Day 4 (Quarter Finals)

Day 4 of The ‘Go Green’ Cup was the penultimate day of the tournament. The fourth consecutive day of the event was brimming with energy and zest when it came to these three age sections with parents, coaches all equally a part of the frenzy. The enthusiastic younger players dish out exciting matches (Under- 12, 10 and 8)
Turf (U-8 category)
The very first match on the turf saw Don Bosco B beat Scottish Studs by 6-0 in the Quarter final 1 of the Under 8 category. Aaron Guddeti lead from the front scoring a brace while Angelo Fernandes, Ethan Fernandes and Yohaan Panjuani were also on the score sheet. FFA A team beat St Stanislaus A by 2-0 with Abdali Tajir and Rajveer Chauhan scoring the goals. Don Bosco A team were beaten 3-2 by the Lions in the 3rd Quarter final. Jayaditya Kedia, Raghav Subodh and Akshat Zaveri scored for the Lions. While Mrigank More and Priyansh Kunchikorve netted for Stanislaus which wasn’t enough for the win. Don Bosco A were instrumental in beating BalMohan A by 4-0 in their second match. Joel Nadar scored a hat-trick and Elijah Machado got a goal to his name. There were a few games that ended 0-0 and few walkovers as well on Day 4 of the tournament. In the 4th Quarter final Ishaan Singh’s brace inspired Scottish Avengers to a 2-0 win over St Stanislaus.
Pitches 1 and 2 (U-10, 12 and 14)
In the Under 10 and 12 category the most remarkable matches are highlighted as follows. FFA 2 were able to beat Balmohan B by 5-0. Atharva Shetty scoring a brace complemented by Rayyan Rawal, Kavya and Ishan Lanjekar on the scoresheet. Elijah Macchado’s brace proved crucial for Don Bosco A to topple Powai Panthers. St Stanislaus A beat Rishikul Rockers by 4-0. Among the goal scorers were Steve Fernandes, Calvin D’Souza, Vivian Sanghavi and Reuel Fernandes. FFA 2 also thumped the Rishikul Rockers by 5-0. Kenkre Jaguars coached by Mr Alfred Mendes raced to a 4-0 over the Hawks. Joshua Mendes was on target, Raul Almeida bagged a brace and Zain Moon also scored. Kenkre Jaguars and Knicks played out a thrilling 1-1 draw. Don Bosco A team continued their winning run with a 4-0 win over Balmohan A. Elijah Macchado yet again scored a crucial goal but it was Joel Nadar who bagged a hat-trick.
The Under 14 category witnessed 4 quarter final matches played on pitch 1 and 2. With the outcome being 4 semi-finalists. In QF1 Gladiators beat Thunderbolts by 5-0. Athar Ansari netted a brace, Moksh Surve, Jaden Irani and Shane Aranha were also on target. Shane Aranha was judged Man of the Match. In QF2 Dwayne Periera’s single goal proved to be the match winner for Bosco Hurricanes over FSI. QF3 saw Bandra Stars and Red Strikers in an end to end battle which ended 0-0. Bandra Stars were able to hold their nerves winning 4-3 on penalties. In QF4 Nefarious Bosco side overcame Bosco Antonovs by 3-0.
The penultimate day turned out to be a roller coaster for the kids, parents and everyone who were a part of it. It was emotional for some who could not make it into the final rounds. But surely the final day would be a thrilling one filled with emotions as we bid farewell to the ‘Go Green’ Cup.
