We couldn’t have asked for more, says Mineva AFC Head Coach Surinder Singh

Yesterday evening debutant Minerva Academy FC registered a 2-0 win in HERO I-League 2nd Division clash against Kenkre FC at Cooperage Stadium, Churchgate.

Two second-half goals from Harpreet Bedi and Simranjeet Singh were enough for Surinder Singh’s side to start their campaign on a winning note.

Our boys played excellent game, they gave more than 100%: Surinder Singh, Minerva Academy FC head coach.

Minerva Academy FC head coach expressed his happiness on their debut win. He also stated, “Our players were fantastic on the field, I am proud to be the head coach of Minerva Academy FC.”

“We are not used to play on this surface (artificial turf), considering that we adjusted ourselves properly.”

This win means the world to us, especially when you have only 8 matches in the league phase: Ranjit Bajaj, Minerva Academy FC co-owner.

A win on their debut and that too against Kenkre in their own den, who they haven’t played before made Ranjit Bajaj proud of his players. “The first match is very important, you get 3 points and you are all set for the rest of the matches, especially in a away match” said Ranjit Bajaj during the post match interview.

“This was the first time we played Kenkre FC who has been playing here (Cooperage Stadium) for their whole life, even Lonestar Kashmir FC found it difficult here and infact if you saw the match we would have scored 4-5 goals.” he further added.

“Their (Kenkre FC) goalkeeper had an excellent game, in the last few minutes he made some brilliant saves.”

When asked how did they react when Kenkre FC dominated the midfield in the initial moments, co-owner Ranjit Bajaj said, “Except for the first five minutes I don’t think they dominated in the midfield. The entire play was in their half.”

“No. We can never be satisfied (laughs).” on whether they were satisfied with the match.

Minerva Academy FC will be hosting Lonestar Kashmir FC next in Ludhiana on 29th November, 2015 in hope to secure back to back wins in HERO I-League 2nd Division.
