Sahyadri F.C. and St. Paul S.C. play-out a 2-2 draw

On 15th November 2015, St. Paul S.C. played Sahyadri F.C. in the Mumbai District Football Association Division 1 game at St. Xavier’s ground. The nail-biting encounter ended all square at 2-2 with Marshal Francis and Chetan Jagnade on the score sheet for S.C.S.C. and Rohan and Nishad G. for Sahyadri F.C.
11 minutes into the game St. Paul’s Shritesh Rai was granted with the first chance of the match. But couldn’t control his shot and hits it off target. A minute later, from a corner, St. Paul’s Jagdish Lobo’s headed attempt was parried away by a brilliant stop by the Sahyadri F.C.goalkeeper.
The Sahyadri goalkeeper Prashant was busier amongst the two goalkeepers in the first 15 minutes. St. Paul pressurized & created hances due to lack of efforts from Sahyadri in the midfield area. Midway through the first-half, Gavin D’Souza was presented with a glorious chance to give his side the lead, but he guided his shot way off-target. St. Paul failed to capitalize on another two chances 5 minutes later, and their coach’s frustration grew from the touchline.
Later in the first-half, another move didn’t bring a goal for St. Paul when a good one-two between no. 9 Marshal Francis and no. 10 Sahil was wasted, good work initially by no. 22 to pass it to no. 9.; no. 9 shot, but the SFC keeper stood strong and cleared the danger with a strong hand on the ball.
The game’s opening goal came on 45 minutes from the St. Paul’s no. 9 Marshal Francis. But things were brought back to level quickly when no. 3 Rohan of Sahyadri leveled the scoreline on 48 minutes.
On 77 minutes, St. Paul’s took the lead again for the second time in the match. The celebrations for the lead were cut-shot. They thought this time they could hold-on to the lead, but those hopes were shattered an 82nd minute leveler from Nishad G. brought about the last piece of action in the game.
Both sides equally fought and a draw a fair result, but St. Paul would be a little heart done by with the late goal they conceded. There is a lot to look forward to for these two sides as they learn a lot from today’s draw.
