Waves FC Rise to the Occasion to Down Hope United

by Chandler D'silva January 22, 2026

The match took place between a rising force in the MPL Waves FC against an established force in Hope United where Waves FC will go all in to get their first points on the board while Hope United coming off a draw will be looking to come back to winning ways this season.

Hope United took early control in the first half with the ball possession and passing. Waves FC were sitting back but were waiting for the right opportunity to break and the did just that as they found the net through Rohan Bhandari in the 23rd minute that put them in front. Hope United needed to get back in to the game after receiving an early wake up call but in the mean time Waves FC had picked up good momentum and went on to get their second one with a banger of a goal by Nihaal just 5 mins after the first which made it 2-0 at half time.

Hope United had the better of the first half with more dangerous attacks and better shots on target and even more crucial chances but they failed to convert them. Santosh Koli controlled the defence well and they stood strong against a strong attacking team in the form of Hope. In the 90+10 minute Meher got one back for Hope but it was a little to late to think of a comeback.

Waves went on to get their first win of the season with a brilliant fighting spirit from their team against a tough opponent and this means Hope United go two games without a win and need to work on their mistakes and come back stronger.
