United SC Edge Past MYJ in Tight Contest at Cooperage

MYJ–GMSC faced a tough challenge at their home ground, Cooperage Stadium, as they went down 1-0 to United Sports Club in their second I-League 2 fixture. Coming into the match on the back of a strong MPL playoff win, MYJ looked to carry momentum, while United SC arrived with confidence after winning their opening game.

The match began with both sides showing intent, moving the ball well and combining effectively in midfield. It was a closely contested first half, with both teams trying to break through organised defensive lines using quick passing and movement. Despite some promising build-up play from either side, neither team could find the finishing touch, and the first half ended goalless.

George Kom stepped up and calmly converted from the spot a minute later, giving the visitors a crucial lead.

Despite their efforts, MYJ were unable to break through, as United Sports Club held on to their narrow lead until the final whistle. The result sees the Kolkata side secure back-to-back wins and move to six points, while MYJ continue their search for their first victory of the campaign.
