The ambition within the camp is clear—this is a challenge to be embraced, not feared. More than just a single season objective, this project of MYJ-GMSC holds long-term significance. MYJ-GMSC are not chasing short-term success; instead, they are laying the foundation for sustained growth at the national level, with a vision to consistently represent Mumbai and Maharashtra in Indian football’s competitive pyramid.

Squad Observation & Strength

The philosophy behind the squad construction is straightforward yet effective. MYJ-GMSC have assembled a balanced unit built on three pillars— youth, experience, and local identity.

A core of young, hungry players brings energy and commitment, while an experienced backbone adds composure and leadership. What truly stands out is the strong Mumbai presence in the 26-men Squad, with a majority of the squad emerging from the city’s vibrant football ecosystem.

MYJ-GMSC approached the season signings with clarity and purpose. Out of the 26-member squad, 12 players have been retained from the previous season—nearly 46%—ensuring continuity and stability within the team.

Rather than casting a wide net, the club adopted a focused approach. They stayed within Mumbai, identifying and signing players who have consistently performed in the local circuit while also played valuable minutes in national competitions. The aim is clear—to build a team that not only competes but represents Mumbai football on a larger stage.

Attacking Reinforcements: MYJ-GMSC already boast an impressive attacking record, having scored 191 goals in just 63 official matches over the past two seasons. This window was about adding refinement rather than overhaul.

Leading the line will be Himanshu Patil, who will look to form a dynamic partnership with winger Miit Adekar. Miit, known for his flair, confidence, and versatility, has prior I-League 2 experience with MH Oranje FC and also featured in the Super League Kerala, making him a promising addition.

Among the headline signings is Arif Shaikh, a well-known figure in Mumbai football, who featured for SC Bengaluru in the I-League last season and played a crucial role in their rise through the BDFA divisions.

Aashish Lalge and Pratham Ghatnur further strengthen the attack—one bringing creativity from the wings, while the other adds a clinical presence in front of goal. Both previously represented MH Oranje FC in I-League 2, adding familiarity and cohesion.

Midfield Core stability and Experience: In midfield, MYJ-GMSC have opted for quality over quantity, bringing in two key additions.

Kiran Pandhare stands out as a highly experienced signing, having featured for clubs like Kenkre FC, Real Kashmir, and NEROCA FC in the I-League, along with a stint at Calicut FC in the Super League Kerala. His presence brings composure and control.

Joining him is Advait Shinde, a promising midfielder who has already showcased his abilities in I-League 2 with MH Oranje FC and has been a consistent performer for the Maharashtra Santosh Trophy side.

They will combine with their very own and retained players Kamran Ansari, Shanon Pereira, and Sujal Ghanekar, forming a well-rounded midfield unit.

Defensive Unit Reinforcement: Defensive solidity has been a clear focus area, with MYJ-GMSC bringing in seven reinforcements, including a goalkeeper.

Shivam Pednekar headlines the defensive additions. With experience at Real Kashmir and as part of the title-winning Diamond Harbour side last season, he adds reliability between the posts.

The defensive line has been further strengthened with experienced names such as Suraj Negi, Aravindraj Rajan, Shravan Shetty, and Dion Menezes—all of whom bring valuable I-League experience and versatility to the squad.

Players to Watch

Despite an average squad age of 27 indicating an experienced setup, a few individuals stand out as key figures for the season:

Kean Lewis – A marquee signing for MYJ-GMSC, Lewis brings a wealth of experience. Starting his journey at PIFA in Mumbai, Going into national circuit Lewis built a stellar reputation with consistent ISL stints at Delhi Dynamos, FC Pune City, and Bengaluru FC—where he lifted the trophy in 2018-19. After four years as a vital I-League presence for clubs like Mohammedan SC and Sreenidi Deccan, he understands the demands of high-pressure football. His ability to operate across the front line, combined with his composure in the final third, makes him a potential game-changer. Beyond his on-field qualities, his leadership and experience could be crucial in guiding a squad aiming to establish itself at the national level.

Aravindraj Rajan – Any coach dream, Aravindraj brings versatility and intelligence to any kind of setup. Comfortable with both feet and capable of slotting into multiple positions, he offers tactical flexibility that could be vital across a long season. Whether deployed in defense or midfield, his ability to read the game and adapt quickly gives MYJ-GMSC an edge, especially in tightly contested fixtures.

Miit Adekar – One of the most exciting young prospects in the squad, Miit represents the Mumbai Football youth-driven vision. A direct and fearless winger, he thrives in one-on-one situations and isn’t afraid to take responsibility in attacking areas. Having already gained exposure at the I-League 2 level and beyond.
