by Chandler D'silva March 11, 2026

The Mumbai Premier League clash between MYJ and Kenkre saw the group leaders continue their dominant run as MYJ secured a 2-1 victory to finish their group stage campaign unbeaten.

Kenkre, who sit at the bottom of Group B and have struggled defensively throughout the season, faced a strong MYJ side that had conceded just one goal coming into the match. Despite the odds, Kenkre started the game with good determination and defended resolutely against the constant attacking pressure from MYJ.

The MYJ attack, led by Arif Ansari, created several opportunities in the first half but struggled to convert them. Kenkre’s defensive line held firm and managed to keep the dangerous MYJ forwards at bay throughout the opening 45 minutes. The first half ended 0-0, which was a positive outcome for the visitors given the attacking dominance from MYJ.

The second half proved crucial as MYJ looked to maintain their perfect record while Kenkre had nothing to lose and hoped to cause an upset.

The breakthrough finally came in the 59th minute after a defensive mistake from Kenkre. A cross from the MYJ attack was mis-hit by Kenkre defender John and the ball unfortunately ended up in the back of his own net, giving MYJ a 1-0 lead.

MYJ wasted no time in doubling their advantage. Just two minutes later, Arif Ansari produced a sharp first-time finish to make it 2-0 and put the match firmly under MYJ’s control.

Kenkre continued to fight and managed to create a few attacking moments late in the game. Their persistence paid off when they were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes of the match. Christopher stepped up and calmly converted the spot kick to reduce the deficit.

However, the goal came too late for Kenkre to mount a comeback as the final whistle followed shortly after.

The result sees MYJ complete their group stage campaign with a perfect winning record while remaining unbeaten and conceding only their second goal of the season. Kenkre, meanwhile, remain at the bottom of Group B after another difficult outing.
