Indian Football League Set to Begin on February 27
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially confirmed that the Indian Football League 2025–26 season will kick off on February 27, 2026, marking the beginning of another important chapter in India’s domestic football structure.
The opening day will feature two matches, with Namdhari FC taking on Aizawl FC and Chanmari FC facing Gokulam Kerala FC, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive campaign.
This season will follow a two-stage format. In Stage 1, all 10 participating teams will play each other in a home-and-away round-robin format. The points earned during this phase will carry forward into Stage 2.
In Stage 2, the teams will be divided into two groups based on their standings after Stage 1:
• The top five teams will enter the Championship Round.
• The bottom five teams will compete in the Relegation Round.
At the end of the season, the team finishing at the top will be crowned champions and earn promotion to the Indian Super League (ISL) for the 2026–27 season.
The Indian Football League continues to play a crucial role in the country’s football pyramid, offering clubs a pathway to the top tier while providing a strong platform for emerging Indian talent.
With the season set to begin on February 27, fans can now look forward to another exciting and competitive journey in Indian club football.
