Somaiya Sports Academy (SSA) registered their first win in the AIFF Sub-Junior League Qualifying Round with an 5–1 victory over The Soccer Academy (TSA) at the Cooperage Stadium.

A brace from skipper Giacomo D’Souza, supported by goals from Rachit Parakar, Rudra Gawli, and Mohammad Razza, sealed a commanding five-star performance.

Coming off a 1–1 draw against India Rush in their Group D opener, Somaiya entered the match well-settled and match-ready. In contrast, The Soccer Academy were playing their first fixture of the qualifiers and took time to adjust to the pace and intensity.

The first half turned into a set-piece showcase from SSA. The scoring opened early in the 5th minute, when captain Giacomo D’Souza struck a deep free-kick that bounced awkwardly and deceived the TSA goalkeeper, finding its way into the net.

Just minutes later, Somaiya added two more, 23rd minute Defender Rachit Parakar converted another set-piece situation, doubling the lead and in 27th minute Rudra Gawli unleashed a stunnner making it 3–0.

TSA managed to reduce the deficit in the 37th minute through forward Vansh Choudhary, who capitalized on a quick attacking move to make it 3–1. However, SSA wasted no time responding. Three minutes later, in the 40th minute, skipper Giacomo D’Souza found the net again, restoring Somaiya’s three-goal advantage with his second goal of the match.

Somaiya introduced last match’s standout winger Mohammad Razza at halftime, and he made an immediate impact. Razza added the fifth goal, sealing the victory and completing SSA’s dominant performance in the second half. With confidence high and momentum on their side, Somaiya Sports Academy sealed a resounding 5–1 victory over The Soccer Academy.

Somaiya now have a short break before their final group-stage match, where Kenkre FC will host them at the Cooperage Stadium on 3rd December.
