MYJ-GM and Kenkre FC battle to stalemate in Mumbai Premier League Championship Playoff round clash

A crucial Mumbai Premier League Championship Playoff Round encounter between defending champions MYJ-GM and Kenkre FC ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving both sides still searching for a much-needed win.

A crucial Mumbai Premier League Championship Playoff Round encounter between defending champions MYJ-GM and Kenkre FC ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving both sides still searching for a much-needed win.

Both teams entered the match following disappointing losses – MYJ-GM coming from a 4-0 defeat to Mumbay FC and Kenkre FC from a 3-1 loss to IOT FC – and the desperation for points was evident.

MYJ-GM started brightly, with Tanmay proving a constant threat on the left wing. Around the 15-minute mark, his skillful dribbling took him into the box, but his final shot lacked power, allowing Kenkre keeper Aryan Surwade to collect comfortably. Tanmay’s dangerous crosses continued to cause problems for Kenkre, but Kamran couldn’t connect, and a looping free-kick from Siddharth was nearly creeping in before an alert Surwade intervened. Surwade was called into action again minutes later, denying Siddharth’s left-footed strike from outside the box.

Just before halftime, MYJ-GM’s talismanic defender Keegan Pereira delivered a stunning free-kick from 30 yards, which looked destined for the bottom left corner, only for a diving save from Surwade to keep the scoreline at 0-0. Kenkre’s best chance of the first half came from a counter-attack, with Abner Fernandes’s delightful cross finding an unmarked T. Zimik, whose header went straight into the keeper’s hands.

The second half mirrored the first, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock. While MYJ-GM maintained possession and created several chances, including winning a number of corners, their finishing touch deserted them. The closest they came to scoring was when a Pravin Kumavat ball into the box found Tanmay, whose header ricocheted off the crossbar. The rebound fell to Allan Dias, but his shot sailed just over the bar.

Ultimately, neither team could find the winning goal, and the match ended 1-1. The draw leaves both MYJ-GM and Kenkre FC with ground to make up in the playoff round.

In the other game of the day, Kalina Rangers and India on Track FC also played out a goalless draw.
