Mumbai Super League: Mumbai Ultras secure playoff spot with a stunning 3-1 win over ICL U-19

Mumbai Ultras have officially booked their place in the playoffs with a spectacular 3-1 win over ICL U-19 in the yesterday’s Mumbai Super League encounter.
The dynamic duo of Joyson and Shreyas Zele delivered match-winning performances, ensuring a remarkable comeback after an early setback.
The game started with Mumbai Ultras pushing forward, exploiting long balls over ICL’s defense. Despite their intent, ICL’s backline held firm in the early stages, showcasing defensive discipline for initial phase.
The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when ICL executed a textbook corner kick. A low-driven pass to the edge of the penalty area found Yash Pandey, who effortlessly controlled the ball, evaded two markers, and unleashed a perfectly timed shot past the Ultras’ goalkeeper. The goal sent the ICL camp into rapturous celebrations.
However, the Ultras regrouped and equalized just before halftime. A long ball from Shahid to Dhawal created an opportunity as ICL’s goalkeeper rushed out to intercept the play. The ball ricocheted to Shreyas Zele, who coolly lobbed it over the stranded keeper from outside the box, leveling the score at 1-1.
Mumbai Ultras returned from the break with renewed determination, completing their comeback within minutes. Right-back Sebastian initiated a stunning move by dribbling into midfield from right back position and finding his teammate on the left flank. Exploiting the space behind ICL’s defense, Sebastian made an underlapping run, received a perfectly timed pass, and delivered a low cross for Joyson to tap in, giving the Ultras a 2-1 lead.
The match’s highlight came in the 70th minute when Joyson struck a thunderous volley to seal the victory. After a defensive error by ICL left the ball bouncing near the edge of the box, Joyson capitalized, striking it cleanly into the bottom-right corner with precision and power, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
With this win, Mumbai Ultras secured their playoff berth and strengthened their position in the group standings. With one game remaining, they now aim to finish as group leaders and carry their momentum into the knockout stages.
