Mumbai Premier League: MH Oranje FC pick 6-0 win, Iron Born brush past Sellebrity FC

Five second-half goals underlined MH Oranje FC’s dominance as they capitalized on their opponents’ vulnerabilities, with Kamei shining brightly with a brace and contributions from Sahil Bhokare, Yogesh Kadam, Pratham, and Khatib.

The match started with an early setback for Bombay Gymkhana when their goalkeeper suffered an injury and had to be replaced by an outfield player in goal. Despite this disadvantage, Bombay Gymkhana managed to hold off MH Oranje FC for most of the first half, thanks to a commendable defensive effort.

However, the deadlock was broken in the 20th minute when Yogesh Kadam, in scintillating form with four goals in his last five matches, found the net. Despite creating multiple opportunities, Oranje’s attackers were unable to increase their lead before halftime, leaving the scoreline at 1-0.

MH Oranje head coach Clinton D’Souza made bold attacking changes during the break, introducing Pratham Ghatnur and Mohammad Khatib. The substitutions proved immediately effective, as the duo combined within three minutes of the restart. Khatib’s clever pass allowed Pratham to finish with finesse, doubling Oranje’s lead.

Ten minutes later, Sahil Bhokare dazzled with an exceptional solo effort, gliding past a defender on the left flank before calmly slotting the ball into the net. This marked Sahil’s first goal of the Mumbai Premier League season and extended Oranje’s lead to 3-0.

Substitute G. Kamei added further impetus, scoring just three minutes after his introduction with a composed finish. Moments later, the dynamic duo of Pratham and Khatib combined again, with Pratham turning provider for Khatib’s clinical strike, making it 5-0. This goal propelled Khatib to the top of MH Oranje’s scoring charts and into the league’s fourth overall spot.

In the dying moments, Kamei capped off a sensational individual performance with a thunderous strike from outside the box in the 90+1’ minute, completing his brace and delivering the standout highlight of the match.

However, the joy was briefly interrupted when Kamei conceded a penalty right after the kickoff. Bombay Gymkhana had a golden opportunity to salvage some pride, but MH Oranje goalkeeper Mukunthan stood tall, saving the penalty to preserve his clean sheet and round off a perfect evening for his team.

The emphatic win propels MH Oranje FC to fourth place, just three points behind the league leaders. However, they have played one match more, leaving no room for error in their final game against Sellebrity FC. Playoff qualification remains firmly within reach as Oranje continues to impress after a uneven start to the campaign.

Iron Born pick 5-1 win

In other game of the day, Iron Born made light work of the Sellebrity FC registering a comfortable 5-1 win. Michi opened the scoring in just the second minute of the game before Karan doubled the lead 10 minutes later. Sellebrity tried to fight back and their persistance paid off as Sumedh’s strike found the net in the 22nd minute to bring the deficit down to one goal.

Dominic however restored the two goal lead for Iron Born around the half hour mark. This was followed by two goals by Raj late in the second half to seal off a comfortable 5-1 win.
