Mumbai Super League-Final Round: Nihal Colaco Steals the Show with a Hat-Trick for MSP while Waves & Brothers Drew

The Mumbai Super League Final Round got underway with contrasting results in both fixtures. Nihal Colaco’s second half hat-Trick helps MSP with 3-0 win while Waves & Brothers settle for a draw
Waves FC and Brothers WA played out a goalless draw, failing to break the deadlock despite creating several chances, while Mumbai Soccer Prodigies (MSP) delivered a statement 3-1 win over Mumbai Ultras, powered by a stunning hat-trick from Nihal Colaco.
Waves FC vs Brothers WA
The first clash of the day saw Playoffs Group A table-toppers Waves FC take on Group B runners-up Brothers WA. Waves started brightly, dictating the opening 25 minutes with their right winger causing havoc down the flank, making incisive runs and whipping curling crosses into the box. Despite their defensive struggles, Brothers WA goalkeeper Abhishek stood tall, making crucial saves to keep his side level.
As the first half wore on, Brothers WA gained momentum, creating promising chances. Sahil Tambotkar came close with a volley from a second ball, narrowly missing the target, while Alymer’s powerful header from a well-delivered Shlok Pabale cross skimmed past the post, leaving Brothers WA frustrated at halftime.
The second half continued in a similar fashion, with both teams carving out opportunities but failing to convert. Sachin Bangera was a constant threat for Brothers WA, firing multiple shots from distance—one of which, a left-footed curler from outside the box, missed by inches. Waves FC, on the other hand, made a tactical striker substitution, linking up well with Sunny Koli, but lacked the finishing touch. Eventually, both sides had to settle for a 0-0 draw, sharing a point each.
Mumbai Soccer Prodigies vs Mumbai Ultras
The second fixture was a statement victory for Mumbai Soccer Prodigies, as they overpowered Mumbai Ultras 3-1, courtesy of a sensational hat-trick from Nihal Colaco.
MSP could have taken an early lead but squandered two clear-cut chances. Nihal Colaco pounced on a loose ball after the Ultras’ defender failed to clear, only to see his shot ricochet off the post. Moments later, Swatej found himself in a one-on-one situation but failed to hit the target.
On the defensive front, MSP’s experienced duo of Nitesh Aswani and Girish Kamath ensured that Mumbai Ultras barely threatened their goal.
However, the breakthrough came early in the second half. A long ball over the defensive line by Vinay was beautifully controlled in mid-air by Nihal, who then expertly lobbed the keeper with a delicate first touch, making it 1-0 for MSP.
Mumbai Ultras responded rightfully, and their equalizer came through Joyson. Shreyas Zele After dancing past defenders on the edge of the box, he unleashed a shot that took a wicked deflection off Joyson, wrong-footing the MSP goalkeeper and leveling the score.
But MSP wasted no time in regaining the lead. In the 76th minute, skipper Deep chipped a perfect ball over the defense to Joseph on the right wing. Joseph drove into the box, skillfully beating his marker before delivering a precise cross to the six-yard box, where Nihal Colaco dived in to head home his second of the match.
Minutes later, Nihal sealed the game with a stunning solo effort. He lingered near the defensive line, waiting for the perfect moment. A midfield turnover by Ultras allowed MSP to launch a quick counterattack, feeding the ball to Nihal. Nihal drove straight towards the goal and dribbled past two defenders and even rounded the goalkeeper before calmly slotting the ball into the net—completing his hat-trick in style and securing all three points for MSP.
With this victory, MSP now sits atop the table, taking a significant step toward Mumbai Premier League promotion, while Mumbai Ultras will aim for a strong comeback in their next fixture.
