Khatib and Pratham star with goals as MH Oranje FC concluded their March fixtures with a decisive 3-1 win against Kalina Rangers, securing three crucial points in the Championship Playoff Round.

Substitute players Mohd. Khatib and Pratham Ghatnur combined effectively to deliver this comfortable victory. Both teams entered this match with significant stakes, given the tight point gap at the top of the table. MH Oranje FC was looking to bounce back after dropping two crucial points in a 2-2 draw against Kenkre, while Kalina Rangers had suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Young Islanders.

One recurring issue for Kalina Rangers has been their defensive stability, particularly when dealing with opponents’ crosses. In this match, they conceded another own goal, consecutive Own Goal’s highlighting this vulnerability. In the 29th minute, a cross from Sourabh Sharma was deflected into the net by Craig D’Souza, giving MH Oranje FC an early lead. Just before halftime, Oranje nearly doubled their advantage when Sourabh Sharma’s powerful left-footed strike from outside the box was expertly saved by Scott Moraes.

With both teams creating opportunities, the match remained uncertain. Key substitutions made by MH Oranje FC changed the course of the game significantly. The substitutes, Pratham Ghatnur and Mohd. Khatib, quickly made an impact, combining for the second goal. A sublime dribble by Pratham set up Khatib, who scored past Scott Moraes, solidifying his position as tournament’s Joint top scorer.

The duo struck again for MH Oranje FC’s third goal when Khatib became the provider this time. A defensive error allowed him to control the ball and lob it to Pratham, who headed it home, bringing his tally to eight goals for the season.

Kalina Rangers nearly pulled one back shortly after when Asad Munshi was close to connecting with a sublime through ball from Shoaib Baig. However, it was in the 90th minute that Seaon D’Souza scored a consolation goal for Kalina Rangers with a stunning left-foot finish from the edge of the box.

FT: MH Oranje FC (Craig D’Souza 29′ (OG), Mohd. Khatib 77′, Pratham Ghatnur 85′) 3-1 Kalina Rangers (Seaon D’Souza 90′)

With this victory, MH Oranje FC climbed to fifth place in the standings with a record of 2 wins, 4 draw and 2 lose for a total of 10 points. Meanwhile, Kalina Rangers sit in seventh place with a record of 2 win, 2 draw and 3 losses for 8 points. MH Oranje FC’s remaining fixtures include matches against ICL Mumbai and Hope United, while Kalina will face MYJ-GM and ICL Mumbai.
