Borja Herrera Chases History as He Enters His Third Straight Super Cup Final
Borja Herrera has once again proven why he is one of the most influential midfielders in Indian football, reaching the AIFF Super Cup final for the third consecutive year.
His consistency, leadership and big-match mentality have made him a key figure in every club he has represented.
Herrera’s Super Cup journey is already impressive. He lifted the trophy first with East Bengal, playing a crucial role in their title-winning run. He followed it up last season by helping FC Goa claim the championship, becoming a two-time Super Cup champion in back-to-back years.
Now, he stands on the brink of making history.
With FC Goa returning to the final once again in 2025–26, Herrera has the opportunity to win an unprecedented third consecutive Super Cup title — a rare achievement for any player in the modern era of Indian football. His experience in high-pressure matches and ability to control midfield rhythms continue to be major strengths for the Gaurs.
Herrera’s impact goes beyond statistics. His calmness on the ball, smart positioning, and ability to deliver in crucial moments make him a reliable presence for his team. Younger players around him benefit from his guidance, and the team often looks more composed when he is orchestrating the play.
As FC Goa prepare for another title clash, all eyes will be on Borja Herrera. A win would not just add another trophy to his cabinet — it would cement his legacy as one of the most successful and influential foreign players in the history of the Super Cup.
With two titles already and a chance for a historic hat-trick, Herrera is just one game away from rewriting the tournament’s records.
