WIFA Inter-District Championship to kick off from Jan 29th
WIFA Inter-district Football Championship 2024 will be begin at 29th January and will continue till 5th February at Nagpur. It will be a knockout tournament and 35 teams will be participating in it.
This year, the tournament will be hosted on 2 different grounds. Ground 1 is Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar football stadium at Sahyog Nagar, Angulimal whereas the other ground is South East Central Railway Motibag Stadium at Ansar Nagar, Koradi Colony. Matches will be played between both the grounds simultaneously.
The finals last year were played between Nagpur and Pune which ended with a score of 1-1. Nagpur eventually won the game with penalty shootouts. Prior to that, Kolhapur had been defending the position of champions for 3 years straight till Covid halted the tournament from 2020 to 2022.
Mumbai, Kolhapur, Nagpur and Pune – The top 4 teams from last year will start their campaign directly from the 2nd round of this knockout competition .
