MYJ-GMSC secure Second consecutive victory with 3-1 win over Kenkre FC

MYJ-GMSC continued their fine form in the Mumbai Premier League with a convincing 3-1 win over Kenkre FC in yesterday’s encounter.

MYJ-GMSC continued their fine form in the Mumbai Premier League with a convincing 3-1 win over Kenkre FC in yesterday’s encounter.

Both sides had entered the fixture with wins under their belt—MYJ-GMSC coming off a commanding 4-1 victory over Mumbai City FC, while Kenkre edged past PIFA 1-0 in their previous encounter.

The game got off to a rapid start, with Mighty Lions wasting no time in asserting their control. In the 8th minute, a well-coordinated move saw Andre and Abhijit combine smoothly in midfield. Abhijit played the ball out wide to winger Shamer, who delivered a low cross into the box. Andre, continuing his run, finished with precision to break the deadlock and give MYJ the early lead. His celebration was a poignant tribute to Tanshiq, a fellow footballer from D’Souza FA who tragically lost his life recently.

Few minutes later, MYJ doubled their advantage. Palash, charging up from his fullback position, sent in a low cross that Shamer, diving in, connected with to guide the ball past the Kenkre goalkeeper, making it 2-0. MYJ looked in full control, pushing Kenkre FC to the limit with relentless pressure.

However, Kenkre FC responded quickly. In the 20th minute, a quick counterattack caught the MYJ defense off-guard, resulting in a penalty. T Zimik calmly stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner, cutting the deficit to 2-1 and giving Kenkre a lifeline.

MYJ almost extended their lead later in the half when Abhijit’s pinpoint free kick from the left wing found Dwight’s header, but the linesman raised his flag for offside, much to the relief of Kenkre.

The second half saw MYJ-GMSC continue to dictate play, keeping possession and controlling the pace of the match. Kenkre FC, despite moments of attacking intent, struggled to break down the organized defense of the Mighty Lions.

In the 74th minute, MYJ-GMSC sealed the win when Pravin Kumavat, delivering an excellent ball from the left flank, found Tanmay inside the box. Tanmay’s deft first-touch finish was clinical, restoring MYJ’s two-goal cushion and making it 3-1.

Kenkre FC pushed forward in search of a way back into the game but found themselves unable to break through MYJ’s sturdy defense. The match ended with a well-earned 3-1 victory for MYJ-GMSC, marking their second consecutive win and solidifying their position as strong contenders in the league.

This win not only adds another three points to MYJ-GMSC’s tally but also builds momentum for the Mighty Lions, who have now claimed back-to-back victories in the Mumbai Premier League. With confidence riding high, the team looks set to continue their impressive run in the competition. Meanwhile, Kenkre FC will need to regroup and find ways to convert their chances as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.

Final Score: MYJ-GMSC 3-1 Kenkre FC
