Mumbai Super League: Young Guns India brush past Mumbai Marines in a 3-1 win

Young Guns India extended their unbeaten run in the Mumbai Super League with an impressive 3-1 victory over Mumbai Marines.

Young Guns India extended their unbeaten run in the Mumbai Super League with an impressive 3-1 victory over Mumbai Marines.

A dominant first-half display, led by the outstanding Sharvan, proved too much for the Marines to handle, as Young Guns surged to 7 points in 3 games, moving them up to 4th place in Group C.

The match started at a lively pace, with both teams looking to impose themselves early. In the 24th minute, Young Guns India broke the deadlock after a well-worked team move. Shakib threaded a precise pass to Dhruv, who spotted Sharvan’s run. Sharvan latched onto Dhruv’s through ball, beat the Mumbai Marines keeper, and calmly slotted the ball home to make it 1-0.

Just five minutes later, Young Guns doubled their lead. Sharvan, once again at the heart of the action, picked up the ball from Shakib and drove forward into the attacking third. Approaching the edge of the box, Sharvan found Nilay with a perfectly weighted pass, and Nilay made no mistake, placing the ball past the keeper to put his team 2-0 up.

The pressure continued from Young Guns, and in the 42nd minute, they made it 3-0. Shakib intercepted a loose pass from the Marines’ defense and drove forward down the right flank. He expertly beat his fullback before cutting the ball across the box to Sharvan, who unselfishly teed up Himanshu. Himanshu finished with a composed strike, effectively sealing the win before halftime.

The second half saw a more balanced contest, as both teams tried to make their mark but struggled to find the decisive touch in front of goal. Young Guns India controlled the pace of the game, tightening up defensively and ensuring that their three-goal cushion remained intact for much of the half.

Mumbai Marines attempted to push forward and create chances, but Young Guns’ backline remained resolute. It wasn’t until the final moments of the game that Mumbai Marines managed to find a breakthrough. In the dying moments of the game, a well-executed through ball from the wing found Karthik Kumar, who skillfully beat his marker before firing a low shot into the net, giving his side a consolation goal.

Full Time: Young Guns India 3-1 Mumbai Marines

Though Mumbai Marines grabbed a late goal, it wasn’t enough to prevent Young Guns from claiming all three points. Sharvan’s creativity and involvement in all three goals played a key role in Young Guns’ success, while their defense stood firm in the second half, only conceding in the dying moments of the game.

With this win, Young Guns India climb to 4th place in the Group C standings with 7 points from 3 matches, maintaining their unbeaten streak. On the other hand, Mumbai Marines find themselves languishing in 9th place, but they will be looking to regroup and bounce back in their next fixture.

Young Guns India will be looking to build on this momentum and continue their charge up the table, while Mumbai Marines will be keen to turn their fortunes around in their next match.
