Mumbai City FC Strikes Back with Style: Late Goals Secure 3-1 Win Over Kenkre FC

Mumbai City FC with a crucial victory to secure their first win in the Mumbai Premier League this season, turning a tense clash against Kenkre FC into a memorable 3-1 victory.

The opening phase saw a balanced contest with few clear-cut chances, as both teams tested each other’s defensive lines. Near the water break, Mumbai City created a promising opportunity. Ishan Sisodia, new to the team, delivered a pinpoint lob down the left flank, finding Yash Bisht. Yash played a precise pass to Aadil at the edge of the box, who set himself up and unleashed a shot. The ball struck the woodwork with a resounding thud and ricocheted back into play. Omkar Talkar tried to capitalize on the rebound, but Kenkre’s keeper, Aryan, made a vital save, keeping the game goalless at the break.

Kenkre FC broke the deadlock early in the second half. Following a corner that failed to connect with a teammate, Mumbai City’s Sayyam attempted to clear but accidentally miscontrolled the ball with his chest. Kenkre’s alert forward VS Zimik seized the moment, striking a clean volley that sailed past the keeper and into the back of the net, putting Kenkre up 1-0.

However, Sayyam Desai soon redeemed himself, helping Mumbai City equalize with a well-executed set piece. Arsh Bhagwan received a short corner on the left, delivering a precise cross to the far post. Sayyam rose above the defenders and connected with a header. Although Aryan managed to block the initial effort, Sayyam stayed sharp, pouncing on the rebound and smashing the ball home to level the scoreline at 1-1.

Buoyed by the equalizer, Mumbai City continued to press, showcasing more urgency in attack. A well-orchestrated buildup saw Eashan Sartape receive a pass just outside the box with time and space to aim. He struck with intent, but his effort narrowly missed, sailing over the bar.

Shortly afterward, Mumbai City found their breakthrough again, courtesy of another corner. Ishan’s delivery into the crowded six-yard box caused chaos among the Kenkre defenders. Amid the scramble, Jaffer reacted fastest, taking advantage of the confusion to tap the ball in and put Mumbai City ahead at 2-1.

With momentum on their side, Mumbai City pushed for a third. In the closing stages, captain Nikhil Shinde launched a long ball forward. The Kenkre center-back attempted to clear with a header back to his goalkeeper, but the header lacked power. Sensing an opportunity, Mumbai City’s striker Ahan burst forward, intercepting the ball and slotting it calmly into the empty net, sealing the game at 3-1.
