Second half tactical finesse defined Maharashtra Oranje FC 2-0 win over Salsette FC, with the former extending their lead in the Group B league table of MFA Super League

Salsette FC kicked off with a promising through ball, swiftly thwarted by a vigilant Oranje defender. The early moments intensified when Egan Fernandes fired a powerful shot from outside the D-line on Oranje’s first attack. Despite the skillful attempt, the keeper’s deft save denied an early lead.

Aditya Negi’s precise pass inside the D-line set the stage for a potential assist, presenting Salsette with a golden opportunity to score. However, Salsette’s forwards fell short, and the deadlock continued as both teams sought to breach the goal post.

The first half unfolded as a fierce battle, with both sides creating opportunities that eluded successful conversion. Oranje’s offensive start and strategic adjustments marked the beginning of an intense second half.

Early in the second half, Aditya More orchestrated a crucial chance by passing to Dhrumil, but the elusive goal remained as Dhrumil couldn’t convert. The turning point came 20 minutes into the half when Egan Fernandes found the back of the net with a sublime chip over the keeper. Sahil Shaikh’s remarkable through ball from the half line played a pivotal role in this spectacular goal.

Salsette, though making attempts, struggled to penetrate Oranje’s resilient defense. Oranje, armed with new second-half tactics, created 5 to 6 major attempts, dominating the field.

In a decisive late moment, substitute player Prince scored the second goal, confirming Maharashtra Oranje FC’s victory. The triumph secures Oranje’s top position in the table, yet playoff hopes hinge on other teams
