In a MFA Super League Group B encounter, Maharashtra Oranje FC clashed with Kopana FC on thursday, where a 89th minute goal by Uday Yadav helped rescue Oranje FC a 1-1 draw.

The opening moments saw Oranje making their intentions clear, mounting a series of early attacks. Prateek Thakur’s formidable free-kick from 25 yards on the left side was deftly parried away by Kopana’s vigilant keeper, Bhushan Dhanu. At the other end, Mitesh Suryavanshi from Kopana shot wide from a promising close range, showcasing both sides’ attacking vigor.

Oranje persisted in their quest for an early advantage. Kamal Rawte’s exquisite pass found Vivek Tiwari, who unfortunately failed to keep his shot on target. Captain Prateek Thakur almost broke the deadlock with an audacious attempt from 35 yards, narrowly missing the mark.

However, just before the halftime whistle, Kopana seized the lead. Gaurav Mangela’s header across the box found Roshan Mangela, who neatly nodded the ball into the net, granting Kopana a 1-0 advantage.

The second half witnessed a rejuvenated Oranje, emerging with determined efforts to equalize the score. Dhrumil Kotak’s header off a corner came agonizingly close, narrowly missing the target. Meanwhile, Prateek Thakur exhibited masterful midfield play, showcasing skillful footwork to bypass opponents and create opportunities for his teammates.

The game reached its dramatic climax in the 89th minute. Aditya More’s dynamic run down the right flank left defenders trailing, culminating in a tantalizing cross. The keeper and defenders gravitated towards the near post, inadvertently leaving defender Uday Yadav unmarked at the far post. Seizing the moment, Yadav lashed the ball into the empty net, securing a crucial equalizer for Oranje.

With this electrifying draw, Maharashtra Oranje FC ascends to the 2nd spot in the Group B league table, amassing 14 points in 7 games, trailing league leaders Iron Born FC by a solitary point.
