Transfer round-up: Naorem to ATK Mohun Bagan, Givson Singh to Chennaiyin FC

The January transfer window of the Indian football season is nearing its end.

The winter transfer window is always an exciting time period in the Indian football season, with this one being no different. Many clubs have utilized this window to bolster their squads with some fine additions. We take a look at all the recent transfers from last week in the Indian Super League.

Hernan Santana to FC Goa

FC Goa has confirmed the signing of Spaniard Hernan Santana until the end of the season. Santana has previously played in the ISL for Mumbai City FC and Northeast United FC respectively. He also won the ISL double for Mumbai City FC in the 2020/21 season. The 32-year-old Spaniard’s addition will add a lot of depth to the FC Goa roster, taking his versatility into account. He can play as a center-back as well as a defensive midfielder.

Makan Chote to Hyderabad FC

According to reports, Makan Chote is all set to sign for Hyderabad FC from FC Goa. He will reportedly join the Nizams in the upcoming ISL season. The 23-year-old has appeared in 10 matches this season and has 2 assists to his name. He made his senior debut for Minerva Punjab FC in the I-league in the 2017-18 season. He went on to play 3 seasons for the Punjab-based club and eventually became an integral part of their team. He also made 5 appearances in the AFC Cup for the club. Makan signed for FC Goa in 2020.

Aniket Jadhav to Odisha FC

Odisha FC has confirmed the signing of Aniket Jadhav from East Bengal on a 2-year permanent contract. The club has reportedly paid an undisclosed transfer fee for his signature. Aniket was involved in just 122 minutes of action for the Red and Golds this season. He was even dropped to the reserve team of East Bengal. Odisha already has the likes of Jerry Mawihmingthanga and Nandhakumar Sekar, both of whom have been in excellent form this season. With the addition of Aniket Jadhav, the depth of the attack for Juggernauts will be even stronger.

Nongdamba Naorem to ATK Mohun Bagan

Nongdamba Naorem is set to sign for ATK Mohun Bagan, according to reports. He will reportedly join the Mariners this window itself, and the move will be a permanent one. The 23-year-old hardly played for FC Goa this season. He didn’t even feature much in the matchday squads for the Gaurs. He joined FC Goa from ATK Mohun Bagan in 2021. A return to Kolkata means he can redeem himself and help the Mariners who are struggling with injuries in the frontline.

Givson Singh to Chennayin FC

Chennayin FC has roped in Givson Singh from rivals Kerala Blasters on loan until the end of the season, according to several reports. The 20-year-old’s contract with Kerala Blasters was extended earlier till 2024. However, he hasn’t appeared for the Yellow Army this season. He will be seeking game-time at the Chennai-based club. He is mainly an attacking midfielder but can also play in a central midfielder position. Givson signed for Kerala Blasters from Indian Arrows in 2020.
