Kerala Blasters signs Bengaluru FC midfielder Danish Farooq

Kerala Blasters FC have completed the signing of midfielder Danish Farooq Bhat from Bengaluru FC, as per reports.

The tuskers have reportedly paid an undisclosed transfer fee to Bengaluru FC for the 26-year-old’s signature. His contract with the Blues was supposed to run until the end of the current season.

Danish made his senior debut for Real Kashmir in the 2018-19 I-league season. He played 19 games for the club that season, scoring and assisting twice. He went on to play the further two seasons for the Kashmir-based club, playing a total of 29 matches, scoring five and assisting twice.

The Kashmir-born player signed for Bengaluru FC in July of 2021. He played 17 games for the Blues in the 2021-22 ISL season, along with 4 games in the AFC Cup. He scored 3 goals and recorded 2 assists in the meantime. He has played 10 matches in the ongoing ISL season and has scored once.

The 26-year-old midfielder is a great addition to the Kerala Blasters roster. His versatility will benefit the blasters a lot. Primarily an attacking midfielder as he used to play at Real Kashmir, Danish was able to quickly adapt to different positions including left-midfielder, right-midfielder, and central midfielder under the Blues’ former manager Marco Pezzauoli. It will be interesting to see how he lines up under Kerala Blasters’ manager Ivan Vukamanovic, who usually fields a double-pivot midfield formation.

Kerala Blasters are currently 3rd at the Hero ISL table. They have 28 points from 15 matches which include 9 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses. The yellow army are very close to securing a spot in the Hero ISL playoffs.
