Thane FA successfully wraps up Elite Division 2022-23 Season

Thane FA, operating under WIFA and the AIFF, marked the triumphant conclusion of their Elite Division for the 2022-23 season on August 12th, 2023, at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association in Vashi.

Commencing in January 2023, the riveting League brought together 11 spirited teams from across Thane District, engaging in intense clashes within a single-leg format. A remarkable total of 55 thrilling matches unfolded over a span of five months, exclusively scheduled for weekends.

The championship remained fiercely contested until the very last day, with three teams fiercely competing for the coveted title. The matches spanned various venues throughout Thane, primarily on FIFA-standard natural grounds, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the gameplay.

The reigning champions, Navi Mumbai Sports Association, successfully defended their title by defeating S P Football Academy with a 3-1 victory on the final day. The youthful Thane City FC emerged as the Runners-up, while Kukri XI FC secured third place in the league after both teams settled for a 2-2 draw on the ultimate day of action.

The season bore witness to exhilarating matches that will be etched in memory. Players, management, and spectators alike expressed their satisfaction with the overall league, eagerly anticipating the commencement of the upcoming season.

The prestigious Prize Distribution Ceremony enjoyed the presence of Guest of Honor, Former India International Mr. Balin Singh, a distinguished representative of the nation at both youth and senior levels. A proud alumnus of the Tata Football Academy, Balin Singh lauded the league’s standards and conveyed his best wishes to young, aspiring players for their future endeavors.

The ceremony also welcomed the presence of Mr. Vijay S Patil, Assistant Vice President of the Thane Football Association. Mr. Sunil Poojari, the Honorable Secretary of TFA, expressed his delight at the teams’ remarkable performances in the league and extended his gratitude to all contributors for their invaluable support in the successful culmination of the league. The league’s supporters included AIFF, WIFA, NMMC, CIDCO, NMSA, Nivia, and Football Counter.

Anticipation fills the air as the forthcoming season of Thane Football Association is set to kick off on August 19th, 2023, commencing with the Super and First Divisions, followed by the highly anticipated Elite Division. Simultaneously, the Youth Leagues encompassing various age groups are also poised to captivate football enthusiasts.
